Eat fun stuff and have fun making it (loads of personal secrets in this article)

I LOVE EATING.

I also love experimenting with new food types and recipes – though I have never followed a recipe to the “t”.

Knowing how to cook simple real foods for yourself, is great to motivate you to stay on the right track, for much longer.

LOL🔥 Love it, this sign can be used for so much LOL🔥 Love it, this sign can be used for so much😂 like strength training will make a girl look like a man, sugar is as addictive as heroin, cardio will make you gain weight, strength training will make you slow, (insert diet name) is the only way to lose weight, in not losing weight cause in eating too little, etc, etc, etc, etc

Reposted from @drnadolsky Remember folks it’s not the carbs, it’s the calories. Eating certain sources of carbohydrates (which usually also contain fat like cookies and potato chips) may increase your want for more and may be easily over eaten. However, the carbohydrates aren’t inherently fattening. It’s the energy balance that matters most.

Those with glycemic problems like in type 2 diabetes may have more benefit from dropping carbohydrates, but this is separate from fat loss.

Occasionally I have some good luck 😉.
This morning, I set out to try and see Some foxes, locally.

As I park close by the fox den, I see a couple, with cameras, and I ask them if they've seen the fox den?
The lady says 'yeah, but no luck in seeing the fox, nor the little ones. But - there are a couple of owls, with owlets, further on', and she explains the route.

Great, so seeing that owls generally stay perched for a while once they're resting (daytime for this type, Tawny), I decided to go see the owls first - as I'll probably have to sit tight, for a looong time, to, maybe, see the foxes.

So after the owls, I head off to the fox den I've heard about.

Once I get there I greet a bunch of people that, apparently, have been there since 6'clock, AM.
That's five hours.

So I ask if they've seen any movement yet?
The one gentlemen replies 'yeah, early in the morning we saw two eyes, sparkling in the dark. That's it though'

So I say 'ah the wait is on....OH HOLD ON' and a fox comes walking by, with prey!

It was awesome - such luck!

A good reminder! ' “I’m on a diet I can’t ea A good reminder!
' “I’m on a diet I can’t eat that”. Well technically you can eat anything when trying to lose weight (diets for other purposes maybe not eg celiac disease and gluten). Remember there is no perfect diet. Weight loss comes down to energy in and energy out. Yes you want to get enough protein and other nutrient dense satiating foods too.

Try to get out of this all or nothing mentality. If you overeat your estimated amount of calories for your goals one day remember it’s the average over days weeks and months. It doesn’t matter. ' Reposted from @drnadolsky

Not realizing / mentally-registering all we consum Not realizing / mentally-registering all we consume (calories) = under-reporting.

This is a huge challenge, for all of us.

➡️ 'People don’t usually intentionally lie about how much they are eating. It’s a very normal thing that we under report how much we are eating. Studies have shown this over and over again. Even experts!

In general, people aren’t robots and we sure as heck aren’t usually fed in a lab where each morsel of food is weighed out to the the gram.

This is why eating mostly whole satiating foods is important. Also keeping snacky highly processed foods like potato chips out of the house. This way, you’re less likely to have the bites, licks, and tastes that go unaccounted for! '

I don't share "before & after pictures, four months" of my clients - but I love their "ten years" later pics.
Most people actually get heavier after each fad/ crazy/ new/ wow diet they have tried. I don't want to do that. I prefer long term and lasting results.

One week after the Dutch elections and the dust ha One week after the Dutch elections and the dust has settled - and I just want to congratulate Mark Rutte on his new (fourth) election as the Prime Minister of the Netherlands.

Why? It is extremely tough to stay fit and healthy, mentally as well as physically, for such a taxing position. Especially through crisis periods, like the one we're going through now and the previous one.
This man also makes the time to train, at least once a week, and constantly improves his intake, sleeping, and lifestyle habits.

And I can honestly say, this gentleman is also the fastest in replying to text messages, of everyone I know and coach. (I always have at least one contact moment the day prior and the after a coaching session, with all my clients. Let me know if you're interested in why I do that).

You do not have to be a fan of his, but that's damn impressive.

I often hear people say 'I don't have time to train, eat healthily and sleep enough'.

We all want to make time - for our loved ones and the things we care for. Have a look at most top managers and/or leaders - including parents.
After 8 years they're usually worn-down.
The picture I used (original from 'De Telegraaf') is from 2019's ten-year challenge. Have a good look. Also, very impressive.

Tip: train early, before your passion/ life distracts you 😉

That's sad, and scary, and nonsense.

In this case- having a child fearing sweets...

So, as a parent, it is my duty to give a good example as well as try to explain this- so little Star understands it.
A little bit is ok.
A lot is not.
What is a lot?
And is it sugar that's of influence or is it surplus calories that cause weight gain 🤔 😉

So now, Nugget can enjoy the occasional snack, sweets or treats, without feeling guilty and without having to hide it from the person who told her it's bad.

I prefer creating trust.

So much this: " I wanted to share a patient anecdo So much this: " I wanted to share a patient anecdote that is quite common if you’ve treated many folks with obesity. The patient struggled making healthier choices when it came to food. This was despite knowing what to do. Yes, they knew the chicken breast and vegetables and rice were a better option than say pizza or hamburgers and fries, but when it came down to it, they felt they couldn’t help but choose the latter.

Was this psychological or physiological? Well, it’s not really clear with this much history and honestly even with further history you might not know. So I started them on a GLP-1 agonist to see the response. Within a week, the patient said they felt “normal”. Not only did they feel they could stop with one helping, they also were able to choose the more whole unprocessed food type (vegetables etc).

After 20 pounds of weight loss over a couple months, their new insurance decided not to cover the medicine. They could no longer take the medicine. The state of feeling “normal” was gone and now they were still trying to eat the whole unprocessed foods, but there was a driver of sorts to get high calorie takeout instead.

So was it physiological or psychological? A little bit of both. A psychologist likely wouldn’t have helped in this case. I’ve seen it over and over again. The physiological component is strong enough it drives the decision making. The patient has free will for sure. But with nudges pushing them in one direction all day every day it’s hard to push back.

Anyway, I don’t see too many folks on social media who really understand obesity. We have some folks who think it’s all a lack of willpower. We also have some folks who think it’s not even an issue and that obesity has nothing to do with health. It’s truly a chronic disease that needs to be treated as such!" Reposted from @drnadolsky
