For example, while everyone knows that brown (wholemeal) bread is much better for you than white bread, what most people don’t know is that the grain that’s grown for bread isn’t as nutritious as it was 50 years ago, mainly due to manipulation of crops for cheaper and faster yield.

Fresh vegetables on supermarket shelves are often sprayed with chemicals to look fresh for longer. And nowadays, tomatoes are a bit less nutritious than they were 50 years ago, as they’re manipulated to speed up the growth process.

Do you want to learn how to read and understand food labels, so that you’re aware of the facts, rather than what the manufacturers want you to believe? For example: the serving size suggestion on a small package, is usually half to a third of the packet, whilst everyone will finish the whole packet in one go.
